Zannier Reserve
Located about 45 minutes outside of the capital of Windhoek, the 7,500 hectares Zannier Reserve was established in 2016 as a space to relocate and preserve wildlife causing trouble for farmers and other locals. The reserve was made possible in large part due to the efforts of Angelina Jolie, who introduced the Naankuse Foundation Wildlife Sanctuary to hotelier Arnaud Zannier when the land was at risk of being developed for urban purposes. Zannier instead acquired the land, working with Naankuse to create the reserve, which features a 10-hut lodge on the property. During our stay, we encountered a pride of lions, a white rhino, plenty of antelope, three elephants, and a mob of meerkats.
